Haircuts for the Homeless was held on Saturday, Nov. 10 at First Pres Church and was quite similar to the (spring) Boulder Footwash. We are hoping to make this an annual event. The event turned out wonderfully! There was a lot of positive feedback from both the guests and the volunteers. We had 7 people from Casa de Dios Shalom doing manicures and foot washing, 7 high school students and leaders from FCA, 6 stylists from local salons, and the Outreach person from Second Baptist, in addition to a number of regular volunteers.
There were 128 guests, 54 hair washes, 60 hair cuts, 30 manicures, a number of foot washes, and 95 clients for clothes give away. Clothing given away included 47 pairs of jeans, 36 blankets, 82 pairs of socks, 47 hats, 57 pairs of gloves, and a number of hygeine items (e.g., raazors, shampoo, toothpaste and brushes, hand lotion, etc...)
The event wrapped up with a delicious sit-down meal including beef burgundy, cheesy cauliflower, and pumpkin pie provided by First Pres Men's Life. Thanks much to all who made this turn out so well!
